Advertisements Far and Wide
As I continue to read Culture Jam I become more and more aware of the advertisement perspective Lasn points out in his chapters. As I was driving back to Gettysburg yesterday I took a few minutes just looking at all the things that were meant to catch my eye and sell me something. Whether it was a new car to a funny phrase to drink a certain type of beer, it was something I never really paid attention to. I never really looked at how much we are constantly and unconsciously reading and buying into advertisements. However, advertisements never stop we are always surrounded. Whether we are driving, watching television, checking our e-mail or even walking around campus we are always reading something. To me there are better things than soda, clothes and food that we could advertise but, we as a country to not see the importance of advertising things that could benefit the people educationally or actually making people think for themselves. When I think about advertising in this way it is quite concerning but really we don't know a world without advertisement anymore, and we cannot simply ignore it.

Myself Introduced
Hi I'm Brittany Trotter, currently a sophomore and a BSED history major.I enjoy skiing (when I have time), cooking, being with friends, watching television, and overall just having a good time. The main reason I took this class, like many of you, was because it was required by my major but, I am really glad we are reading more recent literature. The last book I read was last semester called, A Godly Hero, it really wasn't interesting and was very repetitive. I am not the type to just sit down and read a book unless it is required. When it comes to music I am not very picky I like a range of things, except country, with the exception of Taylor Swift (but who doesn't like her?). When watching television Jersey Shore is definitely one of my favorites along with That 70's Show, Teen Mom, and more. I was really deprived of video games until college, shockingly I was never allowed to have any type of gaming system, even a gameboy. Not until last year did I really start learning how to play and even though I still suck I am getting better at playing some games with my boyfriend and his roommates. My past doesn't really have the word literature in it; I believe that is in important but after middle school I stopped reading for enjoyment. Literature in my opinion is really any book or writing, I'm sure it has a more complex definition than that but in my opinion it is up to the reader to decide. Well, that is a little bit about me and what i think.
