It's All Fun and Hunger Games Till Someone Gets Hurt
Hunger Games was not what I expected. As I started reading I was instantly hooked, literally.I could not put it down because it was unlike anything I read. I really was intrigued on how everything in the society worked. How the Hunger Games were something that people feared so much but at the same time didn't turn it off. I thought it was insane how people who lived so close did not understand anything about the societies close to them. Overall, the book reminded me of the Mayan ball game. It was a game the people watched for entertainment and the winners of the game were treated as heroes and given a great feast. The penalty for losing a game was death. The video to the left of Ninja Warriors in Japan reminds me of Hunger Games because it tests mens endurance and strength. Men get so upset and angry when the lose. People are seen as heroic or the strongest man because it is competition between a range of athletes, boxers and olympic stars. To win is the ultimate honor and you are THE ninja warrior

Yes I couldn't put it down either. I literally loved this book, by far the best! I'm glad you choose something original to show a clip of! Nice. But it's a great connection.
ReplyDeleteIt was an amazing book. I liked the clip and comparison. It's true in some cultures today (more seen in history though) that if you lose, you get killed. Look at the Romans with the Coliseum.
ReplyDeleteThe ninja warrior is a good connection, except that nobody dies during this but it is also a test of strength and endurance like the hunger games.
ReplyDeleteI guess the only difference is that girls also had to compete in the Hunger Games. Something I thought about often was what would life be like for the winners of the Hunger Games. Would they be able to go on living as they had or would they be used more by the capitol now that they have celebrity status.
