Privacy

Big Brother I believe is within our government but not to the extent of 1984. Our population is not one to just look at the surface of things but there is always that one person digging deeper to find all the facts and possibilities.I believe that yes we have lost some of our privacy but in order to heighten our security. We still have a lot of privacy concerning to the privacy of our thoughts, what we do in our own home and more. However most of the things that are public is because we choose to make it public. I think most people would not give up their basic freedoms to be safe. People will always want some privacy and they deserve it. I never see our country ever even being close to the way that 1984's society is set up. No one can tell us that one day 2+2=4 and the next 2+2=5 we are people of questions, doubts, and thoughts and always will be

  1. Yes, who can really tell us one thing one day without us questioning it the next! I dobut that our worlds will ever get like 1984.

  2. I don't know about 2+2=5, but my discrete math professor showed my class a pretty convincing theorem that proved 1=0. I like to think that we still have a lot of privacy and that my TV doesn't transmit both ways. Just another thing, when I clicked your link it turned to black and i thought it disappeared!

  3. I agree that we will never be like 1984, because we are people that question things and don't just beleive one thing one day and another thing the next day.

  4. Yea, i can never see our world turning to one envisioned in 1984. That would be a horrible step in the wrong direction. You're right about our privacy though, we are the ones that choose to give it away and make it public.

  5. I think that your point about our "choice" in what is public/private is a major difference between our world and Winston's world. I guess my question is will this "choice" ever be eliminated?
